The Parkland Student Athlete Academy (PSAA) is a program for Grades 6-12 that provides student athletes in pursuit of high performance with technical, theoretical and experiential opportunities, while keeping them engaged in a rich and complete school community focused on academic achievement. Our aim is to provide local, high quality affordable options for unique high performance sport programming.
This program is a collaboration between Parkland School Division and a number of community partners who offer high quality athletic development in their given sport. This program fosters a long-term approach to high performance athletic development, centered around the physical, mental, emotional and cognitive improvement of the student athletes.
The Parkland Student Athlete Academy will be offering the following high performance sports specializations in collaboration with community partners for the 2022-2023 school year.
- Baseball & Softball
- Golf (Grades 6-9 only)
- Sport Performance
- Self-Directed Elite Athletics (students attend primarily for the academics and complete their training on their own)
Detailed information about our community partners and the sport options they offer can be found on the PSAA website.
Year 1 of the Academy is open to students in Grades 6-9. The program will expand to accommodate high school students in 2021-2022. Under certain circumstances, we may be able to make special arrangements to accommodate students not in this age range - please contact Connections for Learning to discuss the possibilities.
The academic portion of the program is held at École Broxton Park School for Grades 6-9, and at the student athlete's designated high school (Memorial Composite High School or Spruce Grove Composite High School) for Grades 10-12.
Information about the Parkland Student Athlete Academy registration process can be found on the PSAA website.
