Curriculum is the “what to teach” and “how to teach” of education. While promising practices based on current research inform “how to teach,” the Alberta Programs of Study dictate “what to teach.” Alberta Education develops Programs of Study in consultation with teachers, administrators, parents, representatives from post-secondary institutions, and professional and community groups.

Curriculum Development
Alberta Education is in the midst of developing future provincial curriculum in consultation with Albertans. Their work will continue to take into consideration Alberta’s current curriculum, current research for each subject, the evolving needs of students and the curriculum in other provinces, territories and countries.
Information on additional opportunities to get involved with curriculum development will be posted on the Alberta Education website as it becomes available.
