Scott M. Johnston

Associate Superintendent

Mr. Johnston joined the staff of Parkland School Division in 2003 and has made significant contributions serving in a variety of teaching roles and as an administrator in four school communities. In his most recent school post, Scott served as Principal of Tomahawk School (2010-2014).

He began the role of Associate Superintendent in April of 2014.  Mr. Johnston oversees Divisional Strategic Planning and Implementation, Assessing and Reporting, Assurance and Accountability, Transportation Services and Educational and Information Technology for Parkland School Division.

In commenting on his role as Associate Superintendent, Mr. Johnston outlines, “I have a great sense of joy and pride in our learning culture. Parkland School Division has a proven ability to inspire creativity, promote imagination and encourage exploration in a way that develops increased learner competencies, new understanding, citizenship and personal growth. I am thoroughly proud to be a part of our highly dedicated Executive Team and to continue our great work with the students, staff, and communities of all of our PSD schools.”

Mr. Johnston brings a rich and diverse background including leadership experiences with: Rocky View School Division, the University of Alberta North Central Learning Consortium, the University of Calgary and Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and Red Deer College Students' Association. Mr. Johnston is a life-long learner. He completed his Masters of Arts in Leadership at Royal Roads University in 2013. Scott and his wife Kerri are proud parents of two sons, Hale and Nicholas who attend school in Parkland School Division.
