Thursday, October 2, 2025 - As communicated previously, members of the Alberta Teachers’ Association will begin full strike action on Monday, October 6, 2025. During this period, all Parkland School Division schools remain closed to students and there will be no teacher-led instruction for the duration of the strike.

Driving by schools during the strike, the public may notice some activity in the building or cars in the parking lot. Schools will remain closed to students and locked to the public, but support staff will continue to report to work during the strike.

Teachers will not be responding to emails or regular school-to-home messaging (i.e. Remind, Class Dojo, SeeSaw apps) for the duration of the strike.

Transportation

You may notice that school buses will be on the road and in our communities. PSD’s Regional Transportation system provides service to other schools who are not affected by the strike including area private schools. Please do not send your children out to catch one of these buses as they will not be headed to PSD schools.

Community Resources

The Division acknowledges the significant impact this disruption may have on families. For many, school is not only a place of learning but also a source of structure, stability, and daily support. The sudden loss of this routine will be especially challenging for students and families who rely on schools as a central part of their well-being. Parents of struggling children are encouraged to reach out to the crisis support available in the community.

Fees

For any students registered in either curricular programs, enrichment programs or extracurricular events or services with associated fees, PSD will evaluate the impact on the program/event, its service levels and the overall cost to see if an adjustment in the fee is warranted once the teacher strike concludes.

Learning Resources

The Government of Alberta has developed what it is calling “Parent Toolkits,” available online, to provide families with optional activities and resources during the strike. These toolkits are not to be confused with teacher-directed instruction, assignments, or additional homework. Should parents/guardians wish to explore these materials, they are accessible through the Learn Alberta website using the Division’s login credentials:
