Hats On! For Mental Health

Community Event, Mental Health, Wellness

On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, you are invited to take part in Hats On! For Mental Health and wear a hat to raise awareness of the importance of positive mental health.

Schools can participate by encouraging students and staff to wear hats and engaging in conversations focused on understanding mental health and the importance of removing the stigma associated with mental illness. Mentally healthy students are more resilient and better able to learn, achieve success and build healthy relationships.

You can learn more about Hats On! For Mental Health by visiting the Can We Talk website, which is sponsored by the Alberta Teachers’ Association and the Canadian Mental Health Association and includes a variety of mental health resources for schools. To explore ideas for understanding and promoting positive mental health, visit Alberta's mental health in schools web page.

Mental Health Awareness Week (May 6-12, 2024)

The focus on mental health promotion continues throughout Mental Health Awareness Week, which looks to shift attitudes and perceptions about mental wellness. This year’s CMHA Mental Health Week theme is centered on the healing power of compassion. The association is emphasizing that kindness is equally intrinsic to our humanity.
