Administrative Appointments for 2025-2026

May 5, 2025 - Parkland School Division (PSD) Superintendent of Schools, Shauna Boyce is pleased to announce the following administrative appointments for the 2025-2026 school year effective August, 2025. PSD wishes retiring Principals Chris Shaw (Prescott Learning Centre) and Leah Andrews (Forest Green School) all the best in their retirements. The retirement of Associate Superintendent, Scott M. Johnston and previously announced hiring of Division Principal, Mr. Bryn Spence set the stage for a number of members of PSD’s Lead Team to shift into new roles. Additionally a new portfolio for a Division Principal serving all schools in the Division was created which created further movement involving Division Office staff and school-based administrators.
“Intentional movement within our Leadership Team is a key part of Parkland School Division’s systems thinking approach. When leaders transition into new roles, it brings fresh perspective, fosters collaboration across school communities, and ensures that we continue to grow as a unified Division with shared priorities,” stated Superintendent Boyce.
“We say farewell with mixed emotions to a wealth of experience and compassionate leaders in Mr. Johnston, Ms. Andrews and Mr. Shaw and wish them all the best in their next adventures, whatever they may be. At the same time, we are very excited for our experienced leaders who will have a chance to serve students and families in their respective new settings.”
Nealle Dickson, Division Principal
Student Services
Nealle Dickson has, most recently, been serving as Principal of Woodhaven Middle School since the beginning of the 2022–2023 school year. A dedicated educator and leader, Nealle began her teaching career with Parkland School Division after earning her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta in 2001. She spent her first four years teaching a Grade 5/6 split class at Tomahawk School before moving to Muir Lake School, where she taught various grades from 3 through 8 from 2005 to 2015.
Nealle’s journey into school leadership began in 2014–2015 when she served as Acting Assistant Principal at Muir Lake. She went on to serve as Assistant Principal at École Meridian Heights School and, later that same school year, transitioned into the same role at Prescott Learning Centre. In 2019, Nealle was appointed Principal of Forest Green School, where she led the school community with passion and care through three impactful years.
Nealle holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Calgary and earned her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta in 2001.

As I step into my new role as Division Principal: Student Services, I look forward to supporting staff and students across Parkland School Division."
Marsie Fisk, Division Principal
Student Services
Marsie brings over a decade of experience in educational leadership with Parkland School Division. Known for her student-centered leadership and calm, collaborative approach, Marsie is deeply committed to inclusive education, mental health supports, and building strong school communities.
Her work has focused on developing responsive programming for diverse learners, supporting trauma-informed practices, and professional learning across schools. Marsie has also supported REAL, STEPS, and LAWS programming at various sites, building strong connections with students and families. She believes that all students can be successful with the right supports. During her 17 years in Parkland School Division, she has held various roles including Math Teacher, Inclusive Education Lead, Learning Coach, and Assistant Principal with stops at Connections for Learning, École Broxton Park School, École Meridian Heights School. She’s been at Memorial Composite High School since 2019.
Marsie earned her Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Alberta, with a major focus in French As A Second Language. She completed a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from Vancouver Island University.

Travis McNaughton, Division Principal
Program Choice and Innovation
Travis earned a combined five-year Bachelor degree in Education and Physical Education, with a minor in English Language Arts from the University of Alberta in April 2005. Later, he earned his Masters in Educational Leadership: Leading and Learning from the University of Calgary. Travis joined Parkland School Division in 2011 where he served as Assistant Principal at Muir Lake School and Principal at Parkland Village School and Forest Green School before settling into his current position as Principal of Connections for Learning. He oversaw the school absorbing both Spruce Grove and Stony Plain outreach campuses as well as the launch of programs-of-choice like the Parkland Student Athlete Academy, My Path, Building Futures, Virtual Learning and the Learning Hub to name a few.

Christine Ross, Principal
Brookwood School (Gr. K-4)
Christine began her teaching career in 1997 with Evergreen Catholic School Division as a kindergarten teacher. She has experience in both typical and alternate learning environments. Christine spent one year as Principal of Parkland Village School before moving into a role as Director, Learning Services with a focus on Early Education. She has been in her current role as Division Principal, Wellness and Community Partnerships since the 2020-2021 school year. Christine has also previously served PSD students and families as the Director, Quality Learning, the Children Learning in Inclusive Community Settings Coordinator, a Program Facilitator with Learning Services, and as Assistant Principal at Muir Lake School and at Millgrove School.
Christine earned her Education degree from the University of Alberta and is currently working towards a Master in Educational Leadership from the University of Calgary.

John Tyler, Principal
Duffield School (Gr. K-9)
John Tyler began his teaching journey in 2004 with the North Vancouver School District where he held various teaching positions and served as an Athletic Director and eventually Vice Principal. He held administrative roles at a number of B.C. schools and has also served students as Principal of École Morinville Public School. John moved to Alberta in 2019 to take on the position of Director, Programming Excellence for Sturgeon Public Schools. He led district-wide professional learning and worked directly with school boards, while forming partnerships with Elders and Knowledge Keepers on Indigenous education within the public school system. Following his stop at Sturgeon Public Schools, Mr. Tyler moved back to B.C. where he has been the principal at a secondary (Grade 7-12) school in Kamloops. He has been in his first assignment since joining PSD as Principal of Entwistle School since the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year.
John has a Bachelor of Arts and Education degrees from the University of British Columbia as well as a Master’s of Education: Administration and Leadership, also from UBC.

Dean Bernard, Principal
Entwistle School (Gr. K-9)
Dean joined PSD in 2022 as Division Principal, Northern and Indigenous Relations. That had an initial focus supporting students at Athabasca Delta Community School in Fort Chipewyan as well as a central role advancing learning and staff efficacy for Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being.
Dean began his teaching career in 2005 when he moved to South Korea to teach English as a second language. Returning to Canada in 2009, Dean served as a supply teacher for Districts 17/18 in New Brunswick, where he taught a variety of subjects to all grade levels. Moving west in 2010, Dean became an educator for the Little Red River Cree Nation in Garden River, Alberta. He also spent a year at Sister Gloria School (K-12) in Garden Creek teaching physical education and art. Four years later, he expanded his educator services to the Stoney Education Authority in the Municipal District of Bighorn, Alberta. In 2019, Dean accepted the challenge of a school administration role by becoming the Principal of Chief Albert Wright School (JK-12) in the hamlet of Tulita, Northwest Territories for the Sahtú Divisional Education Council.
Dean holds both a Bachelor of Education, High School Social Studies and a Master of Education, Information Technology. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Sociology.

Cheri Day, Principal
Forest Green School (Gr. K-6)
Cheri Day joined the Parkland School Division family in 2013 as a French Immersion Kindergarten teacher following a 7-year career with Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools. She also taught grades 3, 4 and 5, a divisional specialized program and ventured into school leadership as an Assistant Principal at École Parkdale Elementary from 2004 to 2006. Her roles at Parkland School Division have included Early Childhood Services Collaborative Teaching Partner, Learning Coach and Early Childhood Services Facilitator. She has also served as Acting Administrator at École Broxton Park School prior to entering her current role as Assistant Principal at the School in the 2020-2021 school year.
Cheri earned her Bachelor of Education with Distinction from the Campus St. Jean, University of Alberta in 1999 and completed her Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership and Management from Royal Roads University in 2023.

Cherie Lovsund, Principal
Prescott Learning Centre (Gr. K-9)
Cherie Lovsund has been a dedicated educator with over 25 years of experience combined between Parkland School Division and School District 57 in Prince George B.C. Her journey with Parkland School Division began in 2010, teaching at Seba Beach School and then at Parkland Village School before becoming a Collaborative Teaching Partner at Parkland Village School, Graminia, and Prescott Learning Centre. Cherie's administrative career began with an appointment to an Assistant Principal role at Woodhaven School in the year prior to Copperhaven School opening its doors for the first time. Cherie was at Copperhaven from 2018 to 2021 before entering her current role as Principal of Duffield School.
Cherie earned her Bachelor of Education degree and a Masters of Curriculum and Educational Leadership in 2018, both from the University of Victoria.

David Griffin, Principal
Woodhaven Middle School (Gr. 5-9)
David Griffin has dedicated most of his professional teaching career to the Red Deer Catholic School Division, where he has cultivated a diverse teaching and leadership portfolio with experience in dual track schools. David has experience teaching English Language Arts, Grades 10-12 Social Studies, Drama, and Career and Technologies Foundations and has been a literacy coach and English Language Learner lead. He also served as the English Department Head at Notre Dame High School with Lakeland Catholic Schools, demonstrating his capacity for curriculum leadership and educational development. In 2017, he expanded his role into school-based administration, first as a Vice Principal for six years, then moving to be the Principal at Holy Trinity School in Red Deer. He joined the team at Woodhaven as an Assistant Principal at the beginning of this school year and moved over to Brookwood School as Acting Principal earlier in April.
David began his educational journey after completing a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education from the University of Alberta in 2011. David earned a Master of Education in Leadership in Education from the City University of Seattle in 2018 and a Masters Certificate in Catholic School Administration from Newman Theological College.
