June 25, 2024 - School is almost done for the year and parents may be already looking ahead to next year, especially if they have a child entering Kindergarten or Grade 1.

The Transportation Department at Parkland School Division aims to ease some planning stress by announcing the First Ride Safety Program will be offering three days of sessions in August.

The First Ride Safety Program is for new students entering Kindergarten or Grade 1 and are registered for busing, offering a positive learning experience for both students and parents/guardians.

Students and parents/guardians can get some instructional time focusing on bus safety, rules and procedures, and a bus ride to a school-based transfer site.

There are two sessions per day on August 13, 14 and 15, with the first session from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. and the second running from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the PSD Division Office at 4603-48 Street in Stony Plain.

Those interested are required to register for the sessions at 780-963-8452.
