Athabasca Delta Community School, Staffing Announcement

June 28, 2023 - Parkland School Division Superintendent of Schools, Shauna Boyce, is pleased to announce additional Administrative Appointments for the 2023-2024 school year. The new Principal for Athabasca Delta Community School in Fort Chipewyan will be Ms. Tammie Sarauer. Also joining the ADCS team on a part-time basis, will be recently retired, long-time Assistant Principal Mr. Mark Rose. Mark will act as an staff mentor and community liaison to support students, families, and staff where needed.

“We believe that Tammie’s leadership experience in various programs and capacities throughout her career in Parkland School Division will serve students, staff and the community of Fort Chipewyan well. Her ability to create culture and lead by creating meaningful connections with families is her strong suit and is why we think she will be a great addition to ADCS.” - Shauna Boyce, Superintendent

Tammie Sarauer, Principal
Athabasca Delta Community School (Kindergarten to Grade 12)

Ms. Tammie Sarauer is wrapping up her 15th year Parkland School Division. Her current role is an Early Education Facilitator in PSD’s Early Childhood Services department. Prior to that she spent 11 years at Connections for Learning in various roles including Home Education Director as well as the Lead Teacher with the Stony Creek Program overseeing the home school component for Grades 1 - 6.

She has also served students in many diverse roles including Inclusive Education Lead, acting admin, and program lead. She also has experience with many of PSD’s most diverse learning needs programs. Ms. Sarauer has been a Facilitator for High School options and before her full-time teaching career began, she was a substitute teacher in PSD as well as an Educational Assistant at École Broxton Park School.

Ms. Sarauer has led teachings for staff around Indigenous learnings, philosophies and practices around play, parenting and ways of being. She places an emphasis on First Nations, Métis and Inuit curriculum throughout her teaching practice.

Ms. Sarauer earned her Bachelor of Education as an Elementary Generalist minoring in Psychology from the University of Alberta in 2002. She earned a Masters of Education from the University of Calgary in 2022 as well as a School Leadership Certificate also from the U of C.

“It has been an amazing experience working with the team at CFE and in our Early Ed sites. I have learned so much and it has been a privilege to work with the staff, families and students at CFL as well. I am thrilled to be heading to Fort Chipewyan and am looking forward to embarking on an exciting journey of growth and learning alongside the community, staff and families at ADCS.”

Mark Rose, Staff Mentor-Community Liaison

Mark Rose has spent his entire 26-year teaching and administrative career in Parkland School School Division at both Memorial Composite High School in Stony Plain as well as the last seven years at Spruce Grove Composite High School. Mark has served as an assistant principal for the last 13 years. After completing his Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Alberta, he taught Physical Education and Social Studies at Memorial. He would later fill the role as the Extracurricular Coordinator at the school for 10 years supporting athletics through the Edmonton Public League and the Alberta Schools' Athletics Association. His portfolio included being the school administrator responsible for supporting First Nations, Métis, & Inuit students and families. Mark is currently working on a Masters degree in Aboriginal studies from the University of Alberta. He was recently honoured by Elders in PSD South with an Eagle Feather which was presented to him at PSD’s Indigenous Cultural Graduation.
