Parkland School Division is excited to announce they are one step closer to the Division’s third new school build since 2016. Planning has continued to forge ahead since the Government of Alberta's March 2018 announcement of a replacement school for Stony Plain Central School.

The construction contract for the school has been awarded by government to local company Marshall-Lee Construction Corporation with construction work slated to begin in the spring of 2021.

Parents and guardians can learn more about the Replacement School Project’s latest developments on the Stony Plain Central School’s website here.

"This is very exciting news for Parkland School Division and the Town of Stony Plain," explained Board Chair Lorraine Stewart.

"Soon the site will be bustling with activity as our future learning spaces take shape. Marshall-Lee has an excellent reputation of completing projects on time and on budget which will no doubt produce a stunning new facility our students will enjoy for years to come.”

"Marshall-Lee Construction is honoured to yet again be a huge part of this wonderful project which is most needed and deserved,” stated Marshall-Lee Construction Corporation President Jim Lee.

“We are excited to work together with Parkland School Division, the Town of Stony Plain and Alberta Infrastructure to bring this school to life.”

“Having facilities that create rich learning environments is so important for any community.” said Stony Plain Mayor William Choy.

“The prospect of being able to provide the next generation of learners with modern facilities that go above and beyond their needs is an exciting one, and I think I speak for everyone in saying we are excited to watch our new Stony Plain Central School take shape.”

Since the company’s inception in 1970, Marshall-Lee has completed a variety of projects including over 160 structures ranging from educational and health care facilities to commercial buildings, shopping malls, and light industrial warehousing. Other local projects completed by Marshall-Lee include Memorial Composite High School, John Paul II Catholic School’s renovation, Onoway Elementary School, Parkland County’s administration office and most recently Paul First Nation School.

"We look forward to welcoming Marshall-Lee Construction back to Parkland School Division," stated Superintendent Shauna Boyce.

“When Memorial first opened its doors back in 2010, the award-winning design and seamless amalgamation of the old NAIT Westerra campus created a learning environment for our students that was second to none. Once shovels hit the ground, it’ll be exciting for students, parents/guardians and the entire community to follow the progress of this next project. They will be hosting school assemblies before you know it.”
