Tuesday, February 18, 2025 - The Board of Trustees is pleased to share with all education stakeholders the highlights of our recent Board meeting held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. The adopted minutes will be available on our website following the next Regular Board meeting.

Update:

  • The Board welcomed Division Principal, Wellness & Community Partnerships along with PSD Occupational Therapists Chantelle Robertson and Melissa Vasilcin to present on Adaptive Physical Activity. This Division initiative is designed to meet the diverse needs of students with physical disabilities and sensory sensitivities. This program provides opportunities for growth, well-being, and the enjoyment of physical activity for all students, aligning with PSD’s ultimate goal of student success and well-being.
  • The Board approved the formation of an ad hoc committee, under Board Policy 8 s.10 for the specific, defined purpose of conducting an in-depth study into the most appropriate local and provincial advocacy strategies to address student conduct and behaviour.
  • The Board approved Revised Board Policy 18: Learning and Working in a Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Environment
  • The Board received as information the Student Services Report, as presented by Associate Superintendent, Dr. Meg Miskolzie and Division Principal Ross.
  • Action coming out of in-camera resulted in the passing of two recommendations:
      1. That the Board of Trustees approves of taking lockout action as per the Labour Relations Code, to be potentially utilized within the next 120 days.

      2. That the Board of Trustees only authorize a lockout if the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 5543 strike action jeopardizes the safety of students or results in operationally untenable circumstances.

  • The above recommendations are aligned with common labour negotiation practices, focusing on sustaining a stable learning environment during periods of labour unrest.

The next Regular Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 9am.
