Important ATA Labour Action Update - September 24, 2025

Dear PSD parents/guardians,
We would like to share that the Government of Alberta through the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA) and the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) have reached a tentative agreement in central negotiations. This represents a positive step toward potential resolution between the two parties. We should know whether or not a strike has been averted by October 1, 2025.
A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) has been signed and is being shared with ATA members, highlighting key elements of the settlement.
Both TEBA and the ATA will now enter into an expedited ratification process to determine whether this tentative agreement will be finalized. A final decision on ratification is expected no later than October 1, 2025 in order to accommodate the ATA’s initial declaration that strike action would happen if a deal is not reached by October 6th.
We will continue to monitor the process closely and keep families informed of any updates. At this time, there are no changes to school operations—all PSD schools remain open, and classes continue as scheduled.
We appreciate your patience and support as the bargaining parties work toward a resolution.
Sincerely,
Shauna Boyce, Superintendent
Parkland School Division
