Buses Cancelled Tuesday, December 6th

December 6, 2022 - Bus service for Parkland School Division's regional transportation system will be suspended for Tuesday, December 6, 2022. Extremely cold wind chill values hovering around minus 40 are expected. Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Weather warning for the Parkland County region. A few areas may see wind chill values approach minus 50. Wind chill values are expected to moderate by Wednesday.

This now includes the bus in Fort Chipewyan serving students at Athabasca Delta Community School as temperatures have dipped below -45 with wind chill.

The final decision to send a child to school rests with parents and guardians.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to follow their school's regular system for reporting an absence should they choose to keep their children at home. This is an important step to ensure that schools have an accurate record of who is in their care for the day.

Parents and guardians should ensure that students are dressed appropriately while traveling to and from school during inclement weather conditions. The temperatures can drop dramatically in the event of mechanical issues.
