AP 112: Education Reporting

Administration of Policy and Legislation

Background

The Board and Superintendent recognize the legislated and ethical responsibility to keep stakeholders informed about accomplishments and progress toward the achievement of identified goals.

The Board and Superintendent remain committed to an Assurance Model for reporting. An Assurance Model means that stakeholders are actively engaged in the development of local priorities and plans; meaningful measures of success and areas identified for growth are reported back to stakeholders.

Procedures

1. The Superintendent shall ensure that an Annual Education Results Report is developed in accordance with Alberta Education policy and submitted to the Board for approval in accordance with Alberta Education’s timelines.

2. The Annual Education Results Report shall contain information regarding progress toward meeting the goals and objectives established within the Division, in the Division’s Education Plan, including:

2.1. Stakeholder assurance measures captured throughout the year and across school sites;

2.2. Derived results as required by Alberta Education;

2.3. Results on mandatory and optional measures gathered through the year from such activities as ongoing reviews, evaluations, surveys, planning sessions and workshops; and

2.4. Approved financial statements as prudent to do so.

3. Upon Board approval, the Annual Education Results Report shall be submitted to the Minister of Education in accordance with Alberta Education timelines; and

3.1. The Annual Education Results Report shall be posted on the Division website.

4. Results shall not be used to rank schools, staff or programs.
