Blueberry School, Entwistle School, Parkland Village School, Staffing Announcement, Stony Plain Central School

Parkland School Division’s Superintendent of Schools, Shauna Boyce, is pleased to announce the following administrative appointments for the 2021-2022 school year. With the imminent retirement of long-time principals Archie Lillico and Colleen Woloshyn and the recent announcement of Sheryl Bridgeman moving from Blueberry School to Division Principal, Curriculum and Achievement, PSD’s Leadership team will welcome two new members and two current members will assume new titles.

The new Principal of Blueberry School will be John Tyler and Todd Hennig joins PSD as Principal of Parkland Village School. Meanwhile, Tanya Neuman stays at Stony Plain Central moving from Assistant Principal to the Principal role and Shelly Wiebe drops ‘Acting’ from her title as Principal of Entwistle School.

“I’d first of all like to take a moment to acknowledge the commitment and dedication of both Archie Lillico and Colleen Woloshyn. It is with mixed emotions that we say goodbye as their leadership will be missed but we do wish them all the best in retirement,” stated Superintendent Boyce.

“Anytime you have a chance to grow your Leadership team either externally or from within, it is an exciting time. All of these successful candidates are proven leaders. Staff and students alike will benefit from their wide range of experience and perspectives.”
 

Todd Hennig, Principal
Parkland Village School (K-4)

Todd Hennig joins Parkland School Division as he enters his 27th year in education. He has been the Principal at four different schools ranging from preschool to Grade 9 split between Rocky View Schools and the First Lutheran Christian School in Kelowna, B.C. The early part of his career also found him at a K-8 Lutheran School in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mr. Hennig has also had the opportunity to open two brand new schools over the course of his career including his latest stop at Cooper’s Crossing School in Airdrie.

Hennig earned his Bachelor of Education with a major in English and minor in Mathematics from the University of Alberta in 1991. He also earned his Masters, Education Administration from Concordia University, Nebraska in 2000. 

"I am very honoured and excited to join the team at Parkland Village School.  Having grown up in Stony Plain, this next step in my career seems like coming home, and I look forward to getting to know the students, families and staff of this wonderful learning community."

Tanya Neuman, Principal
Stony Plain Central School (K-9)

Tanya Neuman will be entering her twenty-first year in education and is excited for the 2021-2022 school year. All of her teaching and administrative experience has been with Parkland School Division split between High Park School, École Meridian Heights School and Stony Plain Central. She has spent the past five years as Assistant Principal at SPC. Mrs. Neuman has been a K-9 music specialist with teaching experience in Social Studies, Math, Band and Drama.  Tanya earned her Bachelor of Education with a major in Secondary Music and minor in Mathematics from the University of Alberta.  Additionally, she added a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Portland in 2012.

John Tyler, Principal
Blueberry School (K-9)

John Tyler began his teaching journey in 2004 with the North Vancouver School District where he held various teaching positions and served as an Athletic Director and eventually Vice Principal. He held administrative roles at a number of B.C. schools and has also served students as Principal of École Morinville Public School. John moved to Alberta in 2019 to take on the position of Director, Programming Excellence for Sturgeon Public Schools.  He has led district-wide professional learning and has taken on jurisdictional leadership including experiences working directly with school boards, while forming partnerships with Elders and Knowledge Keepers on Indigenous education within the public school system.

John has a Bachelor of Arts and Education degrees from the University of British Columbia as well as a Master’s of Education: Administration and Leadership, also from UBC.

“I am excited to join the Parkland School Division.  I look forward to serving the Blueberry School community and continuing the commitment to the growth of each learner in a supportive and engaging environment."

Shelly Wiebe, Principal
Entwistle School (K-9)

Shelly Wiebe has been teaching since 2010 and has held various roles in the region before landing in Parkland School Division in September of 2018.  Wiebe has guided Entwistle School students as Acting Principal since September 2020. Prior to that, Ms. Wiebe was an Early Years teacher at Wabamun School. Previously, she's served as a Collaborative Teaching Partner working closely with Early Childhood Services supporting Kindergarten Teachers. She has also worked as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide universal support for students at a variety of PSD schools. Prior to joining PSD, Mrs. Wiebe had teaching stops with Northern Gateway Public Schools in Onoway as well as an Assistant Principal and Inclusive Education Facilitator role at Pat Hardy Primary School in Whitecourt, AB.

Shelly earned her Bachelor of Education (After Degree)  from Concordia University College of Alberta in 2010. She previously earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Political Science) from the University of Alberta in 1994. She will complete an Interdisciplinary Masters Program through the University of Calgary's Werklund School of Education in June.
