Educational Assistants Appreciation Day

Staff Appreciation

It’s Educational Assistants Appreciation Day at Parkland School Division!

Educational Assistants are the heart of our classrooms. They work as part of a multidisciplinary team, along with teachers and other support personnel, to provide meaningful instruction to students. Educational Assistants are great communicators, have an abundance of creativity, empathy and patience, maintain a good sense of humour and dedicate themselves to student success and well-being. All of these admirable traits (and more) are needed as they:

  • Provide support in all curriculum areas.
  • Work in the classroom and independently with students.
  • Support individual special needs students and groups of students (within a class or in a specialized program).
  • Help students to acquire the educational skills necessary for advancement in school.
  • Assist in building students’ self-esteem and encouraging them to participate in classroom activities that strengthen social skills.
  • Contribute to maintaining safe and secure environments for students and staff by applying de-escalation strategies and non-violent physical intervention techniques.

Thank you, educational assistants! Your enthusiasm, flexibility, and hard work are appreciated.
