August 4, 2022 - Alberta Education is extending the application deadline for the Minister’s Parent Advisory Council and the Minister’s Teacher Advisory Council to Monday, August 15, 2022.

Parents, guardians and teachers from across Alberta are invited to share their perspectives with Education Minister Adriana LaGrange by applying to become part of the Minister's Parent Advisory Council and the Minister's Teacher Advisory Council.

Over the past year, the 2021-2022 council members provided feedback on the draft Kindergarten to Grade 6 curriculum, the Education (Students First) Statutes Amendment Act, mental health and more. Now, Alberta Education is looking to recruit 40 parents/guardians and 40 teachers from across Alberta who will become part of the 2022-2023 advisory councils and represent their diverse priorities and a broad range of life experiences, knowledge and skills. The councils will include Indigenous and francophone peoples and representatives from a variety of geographical locations, school authorities, cultural origins and socio-economic backgrounds.

"The voices of Albertans are critical to our education system, and I am committed to listening to parents, guardians and teachers across our province," stated Minister LaGrange. "These councils have helped enhance my ability to engage directly on important education priorities."

Interested individuals can apply until August 5, 2022. For further details and instructions on how parents and teachers can apply, please visit alberta.ca/ministers-parent-advisory-council and alberta.ca/ministers-teacher-advisory-council.
