Schedule 330A: Citizenship Scholarship Program

Background
The Division Citizenship Scholarship is awarded to twenty (20) deserving recipients each school year, with ten (10) from each of the Division high schools. Each scholarship is for the amount of five hundred dollars ($500).
Scholarship recipients will receive a certificate of achievement at the graduation ceremonies. Funds will be awarded upon receipt of proof of enrolment at a post-secondary institution.
General Criteria
1. The student has a weighted average in all grade 12 courses of 70% to 79.5%.
2. The student has demonstrated good citizenship and participation in their local and school communities, and has strong attendance and participation in school.
3. The student has not received any other major school-based award or scholarship.
4. The student is enrolled in a post-secondary institution.
Student Responsibilities
In order to be considered for the Citizenship Scholarship, students must:
1. Carefully and fully complete the application form and submit it before June 1;
2. Include (2) reference letters from individuals who are not a relative of the applicant, notably:
a. One from a community member, and
b. One (1) from a school staff member, which support the application.
c. The letters are to reference the student’s involvement with the community, the time commitment made to the organization, and the writer’s relationship to the student;
3. Include a transcript with the application;
4. Include an attendance profile;
5. Provide proof of enrolment at a post-secondary institution within eighteen (18) months of the application submission.
